Saturday 28 November, the weather wasn’t looking too good for the 3.15 start, but the rain held off for the event. We had a small but very enthusiastic turnout of 5 cars. We all assembled at the Marineland Carpark, with the exception of Anne & Renee who assembled (by themselves) at the Aquarium Carpark!! With the start time fast approaching we decided to send out a search party. So, with all finally assembled we sent them off into the depths of deepest, darkest Hawkes Bay. The finish point was 90kms and 2 and half hours later, in Hastings.
The results were; 3rd place Karen & Blair Makris in a 1984 AW11 with 255 points, 2nd place was Anne Clement and Renee Le Prou in Anne’s 1985 AW11 with 315 points, and 1st place was Matt Jonson in a 1984 AW11 with a stunning 325 points. (Mark 1’s Rule in the Bay OK!!!) Considering most of the field were rookies in the car trail business, a great result. We finished off with a pit stop at Georgie Pie with prizegiving and a post mortem. A great day out and a brilliant first event for the HB Members.
Our next event will be mid January, probably in the form of a run to either Taupo or Palmerston North.
