I bought this car in 1996 after an exhaustive search (I was even considering going to Auckland to get one!) and it has provided me with much fun since then. (Also a couple of expensive fines - is it just me or do the cops pick on you when you're in a sports car? I'm sure I did more speeding in my younger years than I do now, but I seem to attract considerably more attention these days!). I've taken it to Ruapuna raceway a few times (not racing - just "driver training" days held by my work) and I have managed to lap faster than quite a few nice cars including a 924 Turbo (emphatically), a 928 SII, a V-TEC CR-X and a 220hp Lancia Delta Integrale among others. I suspect that a few of the die-hard Italian car enthusiasts at my work quietly admire my MR2 for the pure sports car that it is (for them to openly express admiration for a Japanese car would amount to blasphemy!).

Anyway, I plan to keep this car indefinitely and I look forward to getting in touch with other MR2 drivers who are similarly enthused. Thanks for the opportunity to show off my favourite toy.
