Wellington's Legendary Monthly Drives

Palmy Trip - Sat 18th - Sun 19th July

It started as the usual great day in Wellington as everyone arrived at the regular meeting point, we found one MR2 on the jack. A quick wheel change later, Tony returned with his real wheel back on the car and we were on our way.

Grant had the unlucky run out of the group, getting caught at all the red lights he could find.

At the regroup KarPin A.k.a. "Smilie" got a friendly talking to by a local policeman. What a naughty boy!!!!

Then on to Palmerston North we went!

Once there we made our way to the motor camp, where we were met by some of the guys from the local club. Next it was off to Daytona, for some indoor go-kart racing, where Tony earned the gracious title of "Plonker of the day..." for his spectacular contact with the wall at the end of a straight. (Tony you got to admit you earnt this one!)

After a friendly race, we headed for the infamous Pork Chop Hill, for a very scrambled egg of a photo shoot (that is short hand for disorganised.) The results show that good thing can come from chaos.

At this point the Palmy boys had to head for their dwellings and we began the party!

This was about 5pm, at around 6pm it was decided that some food was needed, we each ended up going our own way, as a result of being denied from every restaurant establishment in Palmy, due to our extremely large numbers! (We were left to fend for ourselves). After sufficient nourishment, the drinking resumed (No, eating is not cheating!).

As the evening progressed, Grant and Tony showed their true colours, or at the least Grants lack of dress (pants that is).

However Tony by early morning, was unable to finish his own drink successfully. By the time Sunday arrived, a few bodies were looking a tad worse for wear, not that Jaydeen minded one bit as, Grant was in no state to drive "His Racing turbo!!", Yeah sure I’ll drive you home mate no problem!!

After brekkie of bacon and eggs, it was off for a drive around Palmy and then off to Manfield autocourse for a regroup. After that it was off to Martin to visit Brae’s Mum for coffee (Just a few friends Ma!)

We finally met up with the Palmerston Members and went on a tiki tour around the hills, nice day for a Scenic Drive!

Finally we had lunch at Woodland’s at about 3pm. Prowling into the perimeters of the food shop feeling famished, like a pack of hungry animals, we ate all the available food.

After, we still had to contend with the traffic on the way back to the Hutt Valley we arrived at Brae’s house to review what was caught on the video cameras at approximately 6:30 p.m.

So a good weekend? Yeah! Said by all... Thanks to the Palmy guys for their participation.....

Oh! By the way that would be a total of 18 different cars at some point on the run over the two days!!!

Cheers from the Wellington committee!!!
