I think so. Toyota have wanted to release 3 sports cars, the MR2 to be below the GT86 model and the new Supra above the GT86. The new Supra is already in testing as spotted by the public.

That would have to be up there with the worst article I have ever tried to read.
Seems it just auto generated spam?

Fingers crossed there is some truth to it though, would love to see another MR2 released, although fingers crossed more in lines with the AW11/SW20.

I have to agree with you there. In fact I made the same sort of comment on my news feed.
Wonder if it was just a bad translation from Jap land post.

Haven't been a fan of Toyota's new car designs lately, 90s are still the best. Can they just use similar 90s design and slap in the new stuff?

MID engine REAR wheel drive TWO seater.

Or it's NOT an MR2.

(and I don't care what the marketing clowns say... "midship runabout"... wt...?)

As for Toyota not making good looking cars anymore, what's wrong with the 86? Looks great, handles great, is nice to drive and inside the GT it's a nice place to be. Just needs a supercharger like a Harrop or a turbo or a 2GR or something.

That said, what the heck is that horrible little yellow thing? YUK. MR2? NOT.

Break out the old AW panel moulds, press them out in aluminium and biff a slightly worked 3SGTE in the back. Then you'll have a Toyota sports car that can stick it to the best of them.

Anyway, try this article for size: http://www.evo.co.uk/toyota/gt-86/19033 ... -is-coming

I might have to ask Tada-san to ensure the new MR2 is in fact an M.R.2... If it's not too already late...

Supra terrible
Would own that yellow thing
I've been a fan of the Daihatsu Copen for ages so the new funny looking thing is right up my alley

Ha ha each to his own eh James?

Yeah it does look like a Daihatsu Copen (I couldn't remember what they were called). Thanks for reminding me.

I still say if it's not mid engine rear wheel drive two seater it's not an MR2. Funny looking or not. :P

It could be worse Charlie. They could've based an MR2 on this:

I agree though MR2 = Midship Runabout for 2.

Not sure you can give Toyota all the credit for the Subaru you're driving there, haha. I agree, it looks good though.

I wish they made the original Supra a little more modern with a new power plant. Perhaps even an improved 2JZ since the original is so bulletproof and timeless. With the one I see above in the thread, I can't really see how they got there from the timeless Supra design before it.

I'm not a fan the ZZ30 either, but I feel if made to look a little more like the SW with more aggressive accents, they could have an elegant yet aggressive looking sports car that follows a lineage. The GT86 strayed from the original look and feel of the classic car, but I think they had to with it being a collaboration.

I think I was watching The Grand Tour when one of the three said car design had become really boring in recent years. The super/hyper cars are keeping up, but I think marketing is getting in the way of delivering a truly great looking car that looks amazing, but is tame enough for daily driving. Toyota does not want to make a Lexus LFA looking car and sell it for $32,000. You have to pay $320,000 (or over 1 million) for that look.

Maybe I've exposed a market!
