Buy some rego for your un-woffed car

Post by ClanFever »

You can currently get Rego for a car with no WoF, due to Covid 19

https://transact.nzta.govt.nz/transacti ... ence/entry

You do not lose any demerits if you are fined for having no wof, although you are if you have no rego (which to me, makes no sense. One is driving a potentially dangerous car, one is not paying for using the road...)

This is good if you are close to getting your car back on the road, and still need to road test it or drive it to the local garage. There would be no other good excuse for driving around with an un road legal/un road worthy car, however this means one of the steps is already taken and just in case you run into over zealous police on your trip to the garage, you'll like get compliance on the WoF anyway

"You do not lose any demerits if you are fined for having no wof"

I thought the way I was reading it was that they won't be giving out fines for expired WOFs until October? is this true?
Also, the WOF had to have expired in 2020

asking for a friend...

Yeah, so regularly you won't get demerits if you get a WoF fine + compliance for getting your WoF seems to be easier to get then for no rego, strangely.

If your car is still in a road worthy state, and the WoF expired 1/1/20 or later, you are likely to be let off until October sometime, I think possibly the 20th of October. If it is road worthy, and you have no WoF, and you can take it to a testing station/mechanic, you may as well. If they could prove you are easily avoiding getting a WoF or your car is not road worthy, you are likely to find yourself fined

Did you warrant expire sometime this year? As all cars have had their WoFs extended till Oct 10 if they expired this year
