Steering Wheel won't adjust in/out

Hey guys. I recently bought a 1992 Toyota MR2 na. The steering wheel will not adjust in or out. The lever moves as per normal and does unlock the steering wheel, but that's as far as it goes. The tilt adjustment works just fine. I have tried pushing and pulling with some force, but do not want to risk causing damage until I know more about what's wrong. There seems to be very little information available about this issue so any help would be greatly appreciated.

The 92+ column does not move in and out. It was an 89-91 feature only.

Yeah I found this out as well. Lever still present. Doesn't do anything.

Interesting. I think I'm wrong. That lever is listed as 89-93. The REV3-5 DEFINITELY do not have this function.

Maybe they are just stuck or Toyota locked it out somehow.

Well (if it is true that the lever isnt meant to do anything on my model), why is it that when I move the lever down, the steering wheel unlocks and can be moved in/out (evem if it currently only moves a few millimeters)?

If this is simply the norm for my age of car, then my next question would be is there a modifcation that can be done to allow the lever to become operational? Or am i going to have to attatch an extension to the column to bring the wheel out?
