A few intake manifold parts to clean up for the GEN4 3SGTE.

From left to right.
Intake manifold air temperature sensor and washer
Brake boost vacuum port
BOV vacuum hose port
PCV vacuum hose port
Fuel pressure up valve bolts
Engine wiring harness ground strap bolts

Missing from the first photo is the gas filter. This screws into the intake manifold and has some wire wool to capture any oil in the air from getting to the MAP sensor and FPR. It needed a really good internal cleaning.

Oh that's nasty. (Insert Cleveland's voice from Family Guy)

As expected. Full of oil. That was round 3 of cleaning.

This fuel pulse damper was all crusty similar to FPR. Much much nicer now. I'm surprised how well it came out.

I posted about its function way back 2 years ago when I took it off the engine. And yes, I always planned to keep it unlike almost every GEN4 swap into an MR2. Instead of screwing in an M12x1.25 to AN -6 adapter I will be using a banjo. I finally decided on the fuel feed setup I want to use. More on that later.

This bracket and clamp holds the throttle cable to the intake manifold. The obvious issue here is the rubber section on the clamp not being suitable for acid dipping. So I just threw it into the Evaporust, cleaned it then plated over the existing zinc.

These might seem like very minor 10mm bolts with silly little black brackets, but to me they are important. They hold the wiring harness to the engine with the OEM fitted clamps.

I quite like the contrast of the gold on black on aluminium.

It would appear I didn't wash out all the chemicals enough so it leaked out and started attacking the plating. Argh!! Not great.

Plating the ignition system noise filter/suppressor/capacitor. Keeping it out of the bath so the contacts don't get plated or the body leaks internally.

This part is connected to the power wires that go to the coils.

The GEN4 3SGTE throttle body to intake manifold bolts, stud and nut need a little tickle up. This is another set of hardware that is factory painted. Removing the paint with acid works well, then you are down to bare steel ready for plating. The finish on the parts comes up less shiny that other bits I've done but it's nice as I want it to be closer to OEM.

Just when you thought you'd finished cleaning everything... You open the box full of valve train parts. 🤯

Not to worry, the spring, spring retainer and collets only require a long soak in cleaner and they come up well. The valves on the other hand will need a different treatment.

Before and after. These valve springs clean up well. No scrubbing required luckily. More soaking is required to get them fully clean. 16 to do, one set at a time.

The intake valves for the GEN4 3SGTE are coming out a lot nicer than the exhaust valves. Good old Yamaha parts.

The time has come to clean the throttle body! It might be small but it can still support a good amount of power.
