Sometimes the waste gate diaphragms go bad don't they. I know Gen 4s have boost creep issues that I'm bound to run in eventually. I think GDII has more knowledge with this. I believe running a boost controller (Even at stock boost) you can bypass one of the TVS lines or something?
That could be possible if its a common thing.
Its a bit wet to take out today. But I need a longer test run to see if its actually fixed.
My GEN4 has a damaged wastegate diaphragm so it won't hold pressure and another mates GEN4 has failed spectacularly making it hit 24psi as the gate is being held shut until boost cut attempts to shut it off at 22psi. No boost aftermarket boost controller will stop that.

Yes exactly, all a boost controller is doing is opening boost pressure to the gate later/higher boost level. If the waste gate is already over boosting becaus its faulty the controller will open then the waste gate will still over boost just as it did.
With any luck it was a leaking silicone hose and its now okay. But I guess we will see. If not I guess the waste gate actuator might need a look at. Damnit!
It's just now that I have bought a turbo engine and diagnosing another similar engine that I'm looking at wastegate diaphragms and going, these are getting quite old now, they must be failing and not being fully tested. I would expect that the air would remain in the diaphragm when tested. My one that I intended to use is leaking, I actually discovered the leak when washing it, water went in one place and came out a place it should not have, so an air test confirmed it was damaged. Looking at a Mamba 3SGTE CT15b replacement instead. This one can't fail like the OEM ones as it has no flexible diaphragm, instead uses a solid piston and 2 O rings plus it comes with 6 springs for base pressure adjustment. Not bad for about $210.
So, I am contemplating selling this. I feel like I've done all I wanted with it. The family needs some money. And I have plenty of projects I would prefer to focus on.
So my question is, what price range would you value this car?
Yes its turbo now, upgraded late model suspension and subframe, swaybars, bushes etc. Interior and body is pretty tidy. Now the grey area is the look may not appeal to everyone. So I am interested in your thoughts.

The market is prime for turbo mr2s right now. I bought mine for $9500 at the start of the year and that engine wasn't nearly as solid as yours, and my interior is very average.
Yours is difficult to price, but having watched the market like a hawk for the last 18 months - I'd say around the 8-10k mark, but because it's the 'original motor' people might argue. But on the other hand, you're a solid club member who knows what they're doing on this car, not some 20 year old who just wants a turbo rwd car. Easy up in value there.
I'd say around 8-10k. If you ever do wanna sell, I want that scoop

Well that's more than I expected given the "look" or condition of the paint.

Alright, well.... It seems plenty of people like the BlackRat look, and thought it was cool. But didn't want to own it!
And everyone that I spoke to or that came to look wanted to put it back to original.
And fair enough really.
So now I'm doing that and we will try again
