Hobos Mr2
Finally bought a mr2 as a first car, some would call it a mistake but I don't plan on driving her like a lunatic. The downside is she is very broken. Spun rod bearing, engine rust and the list goes on. Namely a fully oxidised interior. Hopefully she will be running again by the end of the year. Picked her up for 850$ and yeah I know it'll be a massive project

You certailnly have your work cut out for you with that car. I'm impressed you are dedicated to the restoration.
Might pay to look in to engine swaps as it may cost less and result in a better platform.

That’s one expensive paddock hack. I’m struggling to see $50 worth of car let alone $850.

Re: Hobos Mr2
Currently rebuilding it to stock as apart from the engine needing a full rebuild I just have to remove surface rust off the seat rails and a few other interior pieces, quote for the rust hole to be fully fixed is 450 from a body shop near me. So in my eyes I'm happy that I basically got a mr2 for 4500 as that's what I believe I'll roughly spend to get her road legal. Maybe down the line I'll do suspension and brakes. Just trying to stay away from annoying certification things.

Re: Hobos Mr2
The engine has now been fully assessed and the damage requires a crank grind. I could replace but finding a new one isn't easy so I'll go for oversize bearings. From there apart from all the usual bearings and gaskets all she needs is new exhaust valves and then the valve seats to be done

Have you poked at the rust more? Track or road car?
